Florence, Italy: from the city that produced such Renaissance greats as Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, comes a new generation of masters. Royal Gallery is pleased to present the work of artists Brian MacNeil and Jonathan Aller, former students of the Angel Academy of Art, an institution dedicated to the tradition of classical realism. The stunning drawings and paintings you will see in this exhibition are a unique combination of their own artistic styles and the old-master techniques they learned under the tutelage of Michael John Angel.

New England Artists: Showcasing Local Talent

New England Artists:
Showcasing Local Talent

August 26th – October 3rd, 2009
Opening Reception: Thursday, September 17th, 5–9pm

Having enjoyed a tremendously positive response to our previous exhibition, Eastern European Art, Royal Gallery is proud to present the opposite end of the geographic spectrum: no less than ten local artists, all currently living and working in New England. Like the region itself, their artwork is diverse, vibrant, and fresh. Unique mediums such as thickly layered encaustic and meticulously carved bass wood co-exist with more traditional oil and acrylic paints. Subject matter is equally varied; from quiet coastal landscapes and bright, abstract figures to still-lives reminiscent of the Italian heritage of our very own Federal Hill! Come to support local artists by viewing an exhibition of work that was possibly created just around the corner from you.

Eastern European Art: Five Contemporary Perspectives

Eastern European Art:
Five Contemporary Perspectives

June 30th – August 15th, 2009
Opening Reception: July 16th, 5-9pm

Yana Movchan, Tatyana Eliseeva, Natalia Margulis, Katia Jirankova Levanti, and Anatoly Dverin: five artists that although united culturally, are producing work that is both dramatically and exquisitely diverse. Each artist acknowledges the rich tradition of European art; allowing it to inform their work, but ultimately bringing it to life with their own unique, contemporary voice. Works range stylistically and in media: from neo-realist oil paintings to impressionistic fiber pieces. Royal Gallery invites you to view this distinctive exhibition and draw your own conclusions, comparisons, and impressions.
